The greatest German soccer star of time…Franz
Beckenbauer was questioned today in SwissFederal investigation panel in
connection with four other German member on the suspected corruption linked to
the 2006 World Cup.
The criminal
offenses charged against the four of them are fraud, criminal mismanagement, misappropriation
and money laundering relating to a payment of 6.7 million euros ($7
million) to FIFA in 2005.
The press
group was told by the Swiss antorney that Franz cooperated during the
questioning by the federal investigation team from swiss in bern today.
The former
Bayern Munich and New York Cosmos star captained and coached West Germany to
World Cup titles home in Austrian was ransacked last year for evidence of the
suspected crime.
The Swiss
federal team of investigators and prosecutors are also teaming up with the U.S.
Department of Justice in the furtherance of investigation of corruption in
world soccer.
Franz Beckenbauer
is also under going extensive investigation by the FIFA Organisation committee
in a bribery issue announced one year ago.
